Designed the jacket and label for the fourth solo album by Masaya Yamauchi, a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property “Ryukyuan Dance (Song and Sanshin)” designated by the Japanese government.
The album title, The Resonance of the Glen, is inspired by the teachings of the Japanese Zen monk Dogen, who taught that continuous listening to the murmuring of streams, the chirping of birds, the cries of animals, and the rustling of leaves purifies the mind.
Design Concept:
- Overall:
Since this album features the complete works of Tansui Ueekata, the founding figure of Ryukyuan classical music, Yamauchi requested a visual that embodies “Tansui” (meaning “water gushing forth = sound being born”).
After considering various approaches—including illustration, photography, and AI-generated images—I discovered a profoundly beautiful photograph by Hiroshi Kuwamura, a photographer active in Okinawa, capturing fireflies dancing around a spring waterfall in Sueyoshi Park.
Upon obtaining permission, this photograph was selected. - Front Jacket & Label:
To maximize the beauty of the photograph, the design and layout elements were pared down to the bare minimum.
Since the original photo had a vertical composition, the waterfall was featured on the front and the fireflies on the back, with great care taken not to compromise the visual appeal. - Inside Jacket:
As with the third album, an eco-friendly paper jacket was used.
The interior was intentionally left in its natural paper color to clearly highlight the slits for removing the CD and booklet, and to create a strong contrast with the exterior design.

国指定重要無形文化財「琉球舞踊」（歌三線）保持者である山内 昌也氏のソロアルバム4作目のジャケット＆レーベルを制作。
アルバムタイトルの「渓の響」とは、日本の禅僧・道元禅師の言葉によるもので、小川のせせらぎや、鳥のさえずり、動物の鳴き声、木の葉のすれる音などに耳を傾け続けることにより、心が浄化されると解いている。
デザインコンセプトは以下の通り。
- 全体：琉球古典音楽の祖、湛水親方の残した全楽曲を収録するということで、「湛水（水がこんこんと湧き出る＝音が生まれる）」を体現するようなビジュアルにして欲しいとの山内氏からの依頼を受けた。様々な手法（イラスト、写真、生成AI画像）を検討する中、沖縄で活躍するカメラマン桑村ヒロシ氏の「末吉公園の森の湧水滝に舞うホタル」の幽玄で美しい写真を発見し、使用許諾を取ったうえで採用した。
- ジャケット表面＆レーベル：写真の美しさを最大限に引き出すため、構成要素とレイアウトを極限まで削ぎ落とした。写真は縦長の構図であったため、表面には滝を、裏面にはホタルをフィーチャーして、写真の魅力を損なわないように腐心した。
- ジャケット内側：3作目同様に環境に配慮した紙ジャケットとなったため、CDとブックレットを取り出すためのスリットがわかりやすいように、また、表面とのコントラストをハッキリさせるためにあえて紙の地の色のままとした
